Christian Education/ Sunday School Director Report 2017

(September 2016-December 2017)
The Christian education ministry has again had a busy year. While our ministry was small in membership we managed to accomplish many things. PLEASE NOTE: We are currently in need of some willing individuals to join our ministry so if you are interested please speak with one of the members listed at the end of this report. THANK YOU.

We began our program year with our traditional Rally Day/Pancake breakfast and served approximately 80 people. This year we have 43 students enrolled in our Sunday school program. We are continuing to use the SPARK curriculum for all classes except for the 7th/8th grade class which is again using the Groove series by Cokesbury.

This year we sponsored a pumpkin fest in October where children could decorate individual pumpkins and play some fall games and approximately 40 people attended this event.
In November we held our annual Make N Take craft event in conjunction with the Hanging of the Greens and while attendance for this event was low, those who did attend made some cute crafts to take home.

In December the children participated in the annual Advent/Christmas program, performing this year “New Star”. We also had 25 people participate in a fun night of fellowship while caroling to a few of our church members before return-ing to the church for some cookies, hot chocolate and a few games of JINGO BINGO.

The CE Ministry continues to try and offer monthly family fun nights and held the following:
January – a movie night, 19 attended
February- a night at the YMCA with 26 people attending
March- 29 people attended a family fun game night
April- our 2nd annual Easter egg hunt with a total of 83 people attending, several families came from Rosenow School and even a few families drove in from out of town after reading about it on our website.

This year we provided a breakfast for the 8 youth who were confirmed and their families.

One change that the CE ministry made this year was to offer only 1 summertime community wide Family Fun Night and while the weather did not cooperate we still had a great turnout holding it indoors. We had 89
volunteers and guests participate in this event! This continues to be a free event that we offer to the entire communi-ty. In addition to the numerous carnival type games and prizes, Bounce House, a craft, cake walk, and a snack, this year we had a clown available to make animal balloons and our own health ministry team offered an obstacle course for the children to go through. A special thanks to the many volunteers who helped to make this event possible as it takes many people to work in the various areas.

This year camp scholarships were given out to 7 individuals and 1 family of 5 to attend either Pilgrim Center or Moon Beach.
The CE ministry continues to work on current goals in place as well as strive to create new ones that will
enhance Pilgrims’ Christian Education Program.
A sincere and heartfelt thank you to everyone for their continued support of our Christian Education
programming.
Respectfully submitted by,
