May is Mental Health Awareness Month…and Hope is a huge part of Mental Health/Mental Wellness.  There is a basket on the table in the Narthex with Mini Prayer Shawls.  Please take one…or two.  This is one way to hold hope in your hand…a small soft square that was knitted with you in mind…with love.   Thank-you to Dixie Sullivan for showing us how God can use even bits of yarn to share love, comfort and hope!

Summer Special Music begins next Sunday.
Pilgrim is looking for people interested in providing Special Music for our worship services through the months of June-August.  If you play an instrument, sing, have any idea for a group, please let Chris Deaner-Rogers know. It helps if you already have a date in mind, and you are welcome to provide Special Music more than once during the summer.  If you need piano accompaniment, Chris will need the music at least a month ahead of your chosen date. You also need to provide copies of what you want to perform. Pilgrim Church has had great music during the summer months in the past and this summer will be no exception!  We look forward to having Fred Ferguson providing music for worship on May 31.

Strengthen the Church

Strengthen the Church is a special mission offering supports the expansion of

ministry and growth of UCC congregations. Your support of this offering will help the

UCC fulfill its commitment to creating a just world for all by investing in new ministries  and practices that meet the emerging needs of local communities.

As God calls our congregations to be the church in new ways, your generosity will plant new churches, awaken new ideas in existing churches and develop the spiritual life in our youth and young adults.

Offerings Envelopes were in last Sundays bulletins and again on May 17th.

Please use an envelope or Mark your check for Strengthen the Church, so you will receive credit for your donation.
This offering will be completed on Pentecost Sunday May 24.

          Thank You. Stewardship Committee

Pilgrim Prairie — The Second Year

This is the second spring for our prairie. Annuals will continue to be abundant, and biennial weeds may appear — including Sweet Clover, Burdock, Wild Parsnip, and Queen Anne’s Lace. Mowing before they set seed will help prevent re-infestation.

Native Niche’s assessment of our prairie indicates no major issues, but some maintenance will be done this summer to remove invasive plants and grasses. Clovers and dandelions are not a problem at this time.

 Plastic Recycling Update –
Members of Pilgrim’s Green Team gathered with a small group of CSA sisters last Saturday for a session of “Sort & Sip.” Each brought their drink of choice and sorted, packaged and weighed about 40 pounds of plastic that was collected from the collection boxes at Pilgrim and the CSA Motherhouse and pallet wrap from the food pantry. It was an easy and enjoyable task with good conversations.  For the most part, plastics were clean, dry and free of food – just a few bread crumbs that needed to be shaken from bags. There were some plastics collected that had to be pulled out and put into the regular trash (landfills) as they are not recyclable with this program. These nonrecyclable plastics include the crinkly plastics that some fruits and veggies (like grapes and peppers) come in, 8.5×11 sheet protectors, and non-stretchy soft and dry dog food bags. Overall, it was a good collection, and we are grateful to everyone’s diligence to recycle properly. You are welcome to continue bringing your flexible, soft plastic bags and wrap to church or simply drop them off at participating grocery stores in town. A list of what are and are not acceptable plastics is included on the collection bin in the front narthex. It is also recommended you cut sticky labels off packaging that contains personal information. Mother Earth thanks you, and so do we!

In Light and Love,

Support the Pill Bottle Reuse Project

Each month we collect enough pill bottles to send a box to Matthew 25 Ministries. Shipping costs about $25 per box, and the Green Team welcomes help covering this expense.

To contribute:

Use the provided envelopes on the narthex table where bottles are dropped off.

Place envelopes in the offering plate or leave them in the office

Add your name if you’d like the gift on your contribution statement

Thank you for recycling—and for supporting this ministry.

Candy Bar Sales

Thank you for supporting the candy bar sales! Proceeds from the candy bar sales are going into the Memorial Garden Fund #118 for future maintenance of the Memorial Garden. The confirmation class will continue to sell candy bars until Sunday, May 24th. Thanks again for your support!

All the details are in the May Quill.  Help make someone’s birthday HAPPY!  Here is how:
*Pick up a pan and two gallon bag from the table in the narthex.
*Fill it with birthday treats …cake mix, frosting, candles, birthday card, birthday napkins and plates, small gift etc.
(Don’t forget to use a Scrip gift card to purchase.)
*Put the pan in the bag and return it to the table in the narthex.
*Thanks for making special birthday memories!

The Outreach Ministry is collecting items for Habitat for Humanity during June. All the details are in the June Quill and you may pick up a Wish List from the shelves in the entryway. Our donations will help Habitat for Humanity continue their important work of providing homes for the Fond du Lac community.

ONA Team

Pilgrim Family & friends. Please grab an ONA pin (displayed on the bulletin board), even if it’s your second or third pin! That way you don’t have to move the pin to a new piece of clothing! Just by wearing a pin – you ARE evangelizing!  We appreciate all you do to show the community outside Pilgrim’s walls that Pilgrim is Open and Affirming.

Pride Picnic – Sunday, June 28th from 11:00am-4:00pm at the Prairie Theater and Event Center (Note Venue Change!).  Pilgrim will again have a table/canopy at the Pride Picnic so please sign up on the poster in the Narthex to be at our table – we need at least 2 people for each shift – the more the merrier!  From the picnic organizing committee, “There will be live music, performances, food trucks, a brat fry, venders galore, activities, face painting, crafts and so much more!”
